Complaints about insurance companies are on the rise.                 (Claim Date:29th Jan 2007)

We feel the need to point out a few things about Admiral Insurance.

If you have points on your licence be sure that whatever you declare on the website is actually still printed on the schedule you get in the post, if your like many other people and trust them to not make errors in the paperwork then most likely this will cost you.

I declared a speeding conviction which was nothing serious just speeding on the motorway and 4 points for the pleasure.

Paperwork arrived and I signed it without checking. Big Mistake

My house was broken into and my keys stolen while we slept upstairs.

Admiral was called and paperwork put into motion for our claim, we had to fill in an online claims form (there  is no way for you to print the form for records) these online forms are useless as they can say you said anything they want to affect the claim.

I declared my points on the claim and they know this much, but said the first they had heard of the points was 2 weeks later when they checked with DVLA (even though an assessor had been to my house and checked my licence).

Spoke with Admiral about the length of time my claim was taking as the car had by now been recovered burned out, Admiral said that because of the points they would take the £90 difference from my settlement as I would have paid £90 more if they knew about the points.

Then the claim was moved to an under-writer, this is admirals hench-men/women, their job is to rip as much money from your settlement as possible, and if you have so called undeclared point which would mean absolutely nothing to your coverage then they will use this as leverage and when you complaint they will tell you simply " we don't have to pay you at all" in other words they want to to wait for 6 months until they decide to settle. Also they now changed the goalposts and decided that instead of charging me £90 for the extra insurance that they could save even more money if they only settled 82% of my claim as they rckon I've only paid 82% of my policy, wonder how this works if your paying by 12 months installments and your only 50% paid? are you only 50% insured?

called Admiral again and was told they were still waiting for a settlement figur from the finance company, I called the finance company and was told Admiral have not made any contact whatsoever.

After several more excuses from Admiral I decided to pay off the finance myself to hopefully speed things up.

to date (2nd April 2007) still nothing.

My Advice, steer clear of Admiral, they are one of the only insurance companies whoo don't replace your new car for a new car they will offer you book price of a second hand car, however there are lots of decent insurers out ther who will replace the car old for new as long as the car is less than 1 year old and has less than 6,000 miles, my car was less than 6 months old and has 2,500 miles, but Admiral wont offer me enough to purchase a 2 year old car.
